For the past few years, we have hosted a monthly conference that brings some of the top minds in the sun technology industry together for a day. This year, we decided to take on a theme of “The Three Levels of Self-Awareness”, and for the first time, we are doing this with the sun.
The sun is perhaps one of the most influential technology companies in our lifetimes. It’s one of the biggest tech companies in the world, and it has a lot of power in our lives. I think it’s because of sun technology and how it affects our lives that it has become something of a symbol for technology companies everywhere.
In our case, we’re looking at the sun, but there are actually two very different levels of self-awareness. The first is simply the awareness of the impact that technology has on our lives. The second is the capacity to look past the impact and consider the larger consequences. One example we have of the second level being at work in our lives is when we discuss the effect that big corporations have on politics.
For years, companies have been accused of “selling out” their customers by ignoring their wishes and providing a product that they don’t really want, or even that no one wanted. The problem is these companies have always been guilty of the latter. In our case, we have been using solar technology to reduce our electric bill. We believe this is an ethical and cost-effective way to do this, and we’re happy to pay for it.
The problem is that it hasn’t been doing any good. Despite our best efforts to make solar panels cheaper, it still costs more to buy and put into our houses than it does to run on sunshine. The reason behind this is because the cells on the panels need to be replaced every three to six years, and this is one of the largest sources of energy costs in the United States.
We’re not even close to having a solution to our problem though. While we’re trying to reduce our electric bill as much as possible, we’re still paying for the solar cells on our panels to last for 50 years, not the entire life of the panels.
But after talking to a number of solar panel installers who were doing extensive research on solar cell technologies, they all agreed that the panels (which are made out of semiconductor materials) have very little energy storage. So you can’t really store energy on them, and even if you could store energy, it wouldn’t last for as long as a solar panel. In addition to that, solar panels are pretty fragile and get knocked off the roof easily.
Solar panels are now being used in a number of high-tech products, but the fact remains that they’re still way too expensive to be used for home-heating. That said, there are some companies such as Suntech, which is based in China, who have developed a new technology to store solar energy in a small amount of plastic which they then recycle. It’s basically a battery which is then recharged via solar panels.
The technology is interesting, but the price is quite high. We’re not sure if this is a good idea, because the plastic is a pretty common material found in consumer electronics, but we’re not sure if it’s a good idea to use it for home heating because there aren’t any cheap solar panels available on the market that are already recycled. If you’re thinking about it, though, you should be aware that the plastic isn’t environmentally friendly.
The thing about plastic is it is a pretty common material in consumer electronics. Its very hard to recycle. For example, when I was in high school we had to use the local recycling plant because the local paper wasnt making enough boxes for a school project. The recycling plant uses about 200 tons of plastic a year, and about 60% of that is made from recycled plastic. So they dont recycle plastics at all.
