As a business development manager (BDM) I see a lot of companies with very simple marketing strategies that are not sustainable. What I’m talking about are companies with strategies that really don’t work well.
As a marketing manager BDM I get asked about the importance of being able to sell to the right people and having a marketing strategy that will attract new customers.
In my opinion, the marketing strategy is the most important part of any business. If your business is not growing, getting new customers is not something you should be worried about. One of the biggest mistakes I see new business owners make is to take their marketing strategy very seriously. Most don’t have a marketing strategy. They have marketing teams who create a marketing plan, so they can know what they are going to do with their marketing budget.
Marketing is a lot different than marketing strategy, but the general idea is that marketers start out by thinking about the product in a more basic way. They can then get to the point where they can start thinking more about how they can bring in more business. This takes time, though. If I were starting a business today, I would start by identifying what my products are and how they can be used.
Marketing is more than just doing research. In fact, we actually have a new book called “Marketing Management” that lays out all the things that marketers should be doing. It’s a great resource for getting your marketing message out there and getting people to know you and your company.
The thing is, marketing is hard, and it takes a lot of time and money to create a successful marketing message. If your marketing research is lacking, it’s because you’re doing it wrong.
This is a tough topic and I feel like so many people don’t understand what marketing actually is. Marketing is a lot like advertising. If you want to get a message to the people who are already doing your marketing, give them a reason to buy. Marketing is about creating trust, increasing retention, and getting people to buy from your company. In the end, it could be as simple as making your company’s website more inviting.
Marketing is about the creation of trust and the increasing of that trust. To create trust and to increase it, you need to use what I call “soft marketing.” You need to create a believable, non-threatening, non-toxic, non-obnoxious persona that your prospect will be comfortable with. Your prospect needs to feel like he is dealing with a real person and not some faceless corporation.
Making your website easier to search, easier to navigate, more inviting, and more engaging are easy ways to make sure that your prospects want to buy from you. Your goal is to find prospects that are willing to do business with you. This is the hardest part of marketing, as people with weak trust in you are unlikely to want to deal with you. You need to demonstrate to them that you are a person with strong trust. This is why it is so important to hire a professional marketing agency.
I am a consultant for a marketing agency in the UK that specializes in online marketing.
