It Doesn’t Matter Why: silversun pickups

Silversun pickups

The first thing you need to know about Silversun pickups is that they are a rock band. The second thing you should know is that they have been around since 1998 when the group was formed in Los Angeles by lead guitarist Brian Aubert and drummer Nikki Monninger.

There’s a lot of information out there about these guys, but it doesn’t matter why because we’re going to tell you all about them anyway!

The band’s debut self-titled album, it doesn’t matter why was released in 2005. It features the singles “Lazy Eye,” “Well Thought Out Twinkles,” and a cover of Neil Young’s song “Unknown Legend.” In 2007 they released their sophomore effort, Swoon which included songs such as “Panic Switch” and “Sort Of”. The group has since collaborated with Mark Ronson on his 2008 single album Version, so that he could have an extensive list of collaborators for his new LP Record Collection (due out September). They also joined forces with Beck to record 2009’s Broken Bells EP.

Silversun Pickups began its career in 1995. The band was originally a side project for frontman Brian Aubert and drummer Christopher Guanlao, who were both working on other musical endeavors at the time. They added bass player Nikki Monninger soon after forming to complete the lineup.

“It doesn’t matter why” is what I think about every morning when I wake up, look around me at my friends and family, or go outside into nature’s beauty with no worries whatsoever weighing down my heart and mind like they used to before I found this joy of life that comes from being present in whatever moment it is that you’re living because everything passes by so fast anyway!

The cover art for this album features two children holding hands. The girl is wearing a black dress and has her back to the viewer, while the boy appears to be in front of her with his head turned away from us towards what looks like dunes or perhaps waves.

They’re often seen as an indie rock band because they have yet to produce any sounds that would allow them to fit into one single genre, but I feel like their sound can best be described as alternative-pop? Or maybe pop-rock? That’s just my opinion though!

We’ve all been through those hard times where you feel so lost and confused about life and everything feels impossible – but when I listen to “It doesn’t matter why” I feel like it’s okay to be that way because we’re all going through something.

Silversun Pickups are an indie rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 2002 and has released five albums since their formation – three EPs followed by two studio albums. I would definitely recommend this album if you want a breath of fresh air throughout the difficult times!
