For a change of pace, I decided to make costumes out of things I already had in my home. I was inspired by my grandmother who loved dressing up for most of her life. One thing that she always wore was a string of beads tied around her neck called a corset. I thought making my own corset costume, a corset dress, would be an easy way to dress up for Halloween and then wear it to a party.
Like most people, I don’t have the patience for a lot of sewing. But a corset is an essential piece of clothing. While we’re on the subject of corsets, here’s a bit of info about a very popular corset, the corset-style double-breasted suit. It’s made of a double-breasted cut-out construction and is lined with a cloth, giving it a very classic, yet practical look.

Its popularity is due to its ability to be worn in a wide range of areas without requiring any alterations to the wearer’s normal clothing. While a corset is a very simple garment, its effectiveness is limited by the fabric used. To solve this, the corset manufacturers began to use stretch-fabric.

That’s another one of those “what if…” question. What if there were a way to make an outfit that is comfortable, while the waist of the corset rests on top of the waistband? The answer is “probably not without some effort.” It would take a lot of fabric, and a lot of sewing. It’s not just the fabric that would have to be replaced, but the overall shape as well.
Another thing that you could do is to wear a corset with a belt instead of a waistband (or waist cinch) so that you don’t have any bulk to worry about. This is a great idea if you’re going for a smaller waist, but not as good if the waist does not fit over the top of your hips.
