So you want to write a great song?
Well, first thing’s first. You need inspiration! One of the most important things about writing a song is finding out what it is that inspires you and then using that as the basis for your lyrics. If you can’t find anything in your own life or in reality, then turn to fiction or mythology. These are all good sources for getting ideas and giving yourself some time away from everyday life. A good idea to get the creative juices flowing is to write a list of all the things you like. It could be anything from food, colors, people or activities. Pick one and do some brainstorming about how that might inform your song. -Exercise also helps with creativity! If there’s nothing inspiring you in life, then go for a nice long run/ bike ride/ swim excursion? You’ll feel refreshed afterwards (and may even have an epiphany!) -If none of these work for you, try writing a sad song right now–even if it doesn’t represent what actually inspires you.
